The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is a charity that benefits youth, supports education, and facilitates better agricultural practices through exhibitions and presentation. By holding its annual event, the organizers are able to raise funds to help students in need of assistance. This event is more than just a show to attend. They are committed to providing educational support to the youth of Texas. Since 1957, they’ve given out a whopping 21,000 scholarships, totaling over $290 million. In 2024 alone, they’re planning to hand out over 800 scholarships. The chance to win will be open from the 5th of December, 2023, to the 31st of January, 2024.
Hosting the world’s largest livestock show, it brings in thousands of 4-H and FFA exhibitors every year. Since 1932, they’ve committed almost $210 million to these exhibitors through premiums and calf scramble certificates. Since the ’70s, the Rodeo has been a grad student’s best friend. It has given out over $16 million in grants to graduate assistantship programs in Texas. In 2024, they plan on spreading the love to 11 Texas universities. Each one is in charge of the application and selection process, making dreams come true for grad students across the Lone Star State.
